Full Description
William Lambarde's "card" of c1570 shows a beacon at "Mongehm" near Deal and a total of 52 beacons in Kent. The beacon system dropped out of use after 1640. "Beacon Hill" Mongeham undoubtedly refers to the site but there is no ground confirmation. (1) additional reference (2-3)
