Full Description

TR 34515495, Bronze Age site in the Worth Minnis area. Work in field 4 revealed several features cutting the "flint" layer but sealed under the greasy clay, which was found to be tin and patchyhere. At one point a spread of carbon and 'pot-boiler' was located, resting on top of the flint layer, partially sealed by the greasy clay under the peat. A sample of the carbon was submitted to Harwell for C14 dating 'HAR-6213' and a date of 1080 BC +/- 90 '1260-1380 BC using the masca curve' was obtained, indicating a Middle Bronze Age date for the feature. This evidence, together with the pottery, implies that there is more than one period of occupation here. (For more detailed background information and conclusions see TR 35 NW 104). (1)
