Full Description
TR 30505252. Ten ring ditches, rectangular and oval enclosures, west of the Dover Road. Possible Barrow Cemetery. (1)
A group of at least seven circular and sub-circular ditched enclosures ranging in size from 4m to 14m across and are considered to be plough-levelled remains of a prehistoric hut circle settlement. The largest enclosure lies at TR30535235, its outer ditch is 2m wide, with the remains of a second ditch or palisade trench, approxiamately 0.5m wide lying 2m inside the first. Immediately to the south of this enclosure at TR30535234 is a group of at least four overlaping sub-circular enclousres 6-9m across, the largets of which also appears to have an internal palisade. Two ring ditches 5m across, lies at TR30555242 it is the northern-most enclosure of this group and a small gap in its north-west side may represent the position of an entrance. (3)
