Monument record TR 36 NE 22 - Roman burials and a Roman coin hoard?, St. Lawrence College, Ramsgate

Summary

Roman burials with pottery were recorded in the grounds of St. Lawrence College, in the latter half of the nineteenth century. c.120 Roman coins were also discovered in the grounds of the College and from the grounds of the Derby Arms Public House. A coin of Postumus was discovered in nearby St Luke's Avenue. (location accurate to the nearest 100m based on available information)

Full Description

[TR 37856592]. A skeleton and a hoard of 120 Roman coins and vases were found in the grounds of the South Eastern [now St. Lawrence] College, Ramsgate, prior to 1891. (1,2)
No further information on the exact siting or present whereabouts of these finds was gained at St. Lawrence's College: they are not in any of the local museums. (3)
Hoards of Roman coins, pottery and skeletons were discovered c. 1890. (4)
