Full Description
In 2007 Wessex Archaeology carried out an excavation and found a series of shallow discontinuous parallel ditches. They varied from 0.35m-0.8m wide and 0.1-0.3m deep. They continued an alignment of similar features found on the adjacent Four Elms Roundabout site. They are thought to be field ditches relating to narrow agricultural strips of very late Anglo-Saxon or early medieval date (AD 1050–1150). (1)
These excavations are collated and summarised in a January 2015 'Publication Report' by CgMs. The report makes concluding interpretations of the different phases of occupation at the site but these are far too detailed to summarise here. See Source Ref for further information. (2)
