Full Description
The Calehill estate map of 1639 shows a building within this field. It is depicted in the same style as other occupied smaller dwellings shown on the map, with windows and doors sketched as marks on the wall, a gabled roof and a chimney (1). The building is not shown on the sketch of the Ordnance Survey dated to 1789 but this could be an error as other buildings at Newlands are also not shown. It is not depicted on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey so had evidently been demolished by the mid 19th century. It could have been be of medieval date but may equally only have been built in the 16th or 17th century.
