Full Description
Whitstable Castle, on Tower Hill, was purchased by Whitstable UDC for offices and a town park in 1935.
The terraces and small sunken and topiary gardens lead to an informality of paths threading through shrubberies and copse which, even with later adjustments for public use, retain the spirit of a 19th-century garden. The formal garden has a central fountain and a fine display of roses.
The central feature of this park is the mid-Victorian castellated, turreted mansion, which incorporates the Tankerton Tower of 1792.
Principal building: Mansion house Created 1845 to 1870
