Remains of the 1965 wreck of a West German cago vessel which foundered 5 miles south of Dover following a collision with another vessel, while en route from Wismar to Haulbowline in Cork Harbour, with a cargo of pig Iron. Built of steel in Hamburg in 1953, she was an engine driven vessel.

Full Description

Charted as KATHARINA KOLKOMANN, 'notable debris' in the Marine zone. A dangerous wreck.
Vessel remains:
Lies in position 51°00.28N, 001°14.20E at a depth of 18.1m in a general depth of 26m.
Sonar dimensions: 90 x 15 x 5.5m. Orientation: 70°
'Large distinct pieces of wreckage.' Debris field is close to the wreck
The wreckage 'is quite well flattened for most of her length, however the Bow is intact and stands up to 8m proud and
the stern section is also quite proud and upright... the wreck is... free of nets and line.'
