Summary

Spanish cargo coaster which foundered following a collision with another vessel approximately 2 miles SSW of Dungeness Power Station. She had been en route from Hamburg to Bilbao with a cargo of railway lines (track). Built of steel in Bilbao in 1960, she was an engine driven vessel.

Full Description

Charted as SIERRA BRAVIA, 'entire wreck' in the Marine zone. A dangerous wreck.
Vessel remains:
Lies in position 50°52.85N, 000°57.12E at a depth of 22.5m in a general depth of 30m.
Sonar length: 36.6m.
One of 'two wrecks found near this position' in August 1970, and observed later that year to have a scour 'possibly 1m
deep... [and lying] NW/SE'. (1, 25.8.70 and 15.12.70)
'Has not been positively identified.'
Source 3 suggests that the wreck charted at this location may be that of a U-boat rather than of the SIERRA
BRAVIA, but the cargo of railway lines reported in the wreck by K McDonald in Source 4 seems to support her
identification.
