Summary

1980 wreck of a Dutch fishing vessel presumed sunk after an empty liferaft was found some 4 miles ENE of the South Goodwin Lightship in March of that year. She had been on a ballast voyage from Plymouth (England) to Scheveningen. Built of steel, she was an engine-driven vessel.

Full Description

Not located during a 1980 search in position of 51°09.75N, 001°34.40E [OSGB] where her liferaft had been found.
Not located by magnetometer in 1994 and it is 'believed [that] wreck no longer exists.' The UK Hydrographic Office
record for the wreck was duly amended to DEAD in April 1994.
'This motor vessel was posted as missing, presumed sunk, after an empty liferaft was located on 16.02.1980, the vessel
having left Plymouth two days earlier. The liferaft marked Z-529 was located and recovered 077° 5.1 miles from the
South Goodwin light vessel, but a search by the Trinity House vessel MERMAID found no trace of the wreckage. An
SAR helicopter reported an oil seepage slick in Decca position (English chain) Red (E) 14.6, Green (G) 45.3.'
