Full Description
Enclosures, visible as cropmarks in the 1990 aerial photos, to the NE of St Peters. There appear to be 2 rectlinear enclosures adjacent to each other. Trapezoidal in shape, one measures roughly 20m x 25m; the other roughly 25m x 50m. A semi-circular enclosure with a radius varying between 11m-16m lies to the north of the northern enclosure, with an apparent 2m wide gap between the two. (1)
Enclosures forming part of a settlement of Medieval date were visible as cropmarks in NMR 2116/0133 01-JUN-1982 and EARTH.GOOGLE.COM XX-XXX-1990 (ACCESSED 30-NOV-2023). Two sub-rectangular cropmarks, presumably indicating the position of buildings whose sub-floor had been relatively deeply cut, were visible in the southern-most enclosure. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (2-3)
