Full Description

A complex of enclosures and associated features are visible as cropmarks on air photographs taken on July 16th 2001. Located on the Sholden Downs, the cropmarks are situated on the gently sloping northwest facing side of this nw-facing inland promontory, just below the 20 metres contour which marks the edge of the broad, flat summit of the ridge. The cropmarks comprise a near D-shaped enclosure measuring at least 60 metres by 60 metres. On its northern and western sides the enclosure ditch is flanked by a concentric ditch line that subsequently becomes a double ditched track leading to a smaller rrectangular enclosure to the west. To the south east is a small circular enclosure with west-facing entrance or causeway. Other linear features are also visible in the area. (1)
