Full Description
Oval-shaped macula at TR 3680 6845 on RCHME AP. Consists of pit features (burial mound?), but shown as half of a ring ditch on Thanet cropmark plot. (1)
A probable post medieval extractive pit visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs: NMR 4176/32 01-AUG-1988 and mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. This site was mapped as part of an earlier survey RCHME Kent NMP project undertaken in the late 1980s. This survey was hand drawn and sketch-mapped. N.B. It is likely that this particular feature has been misidentified as a mound where the loose stipple for a large macula cropmarks has been mistaken for the compact stipple used for positive features such as banks and mounds .(2)
