Courtstairs Chine is an ornamental walkway from the cliff top to the undercliff promenade, which was opened in 1926 by the Prince of Wales. It includes a rock garden made of Pulhamite stone.

A large quantity of artificial Pulham stone was imported to create this rock garden which provides a sheltered environment for Berberis, Buddleia, Deutzia, Colutea, Fuchsia, Olearia, Spartium and Tamarix: all hardy shrubs which are able to withstand a coastal situation.Courtstairs Chine is situated at the western end of the Westcliff at Ramsgate. It was developed as an ornamental walkway from the cliff top to the under-cliff promenade and, as part of the St. Laurence complex, it was declared open by the Prince of Wales in 1926.(1,2)
