Full Description

The standing post group consisted of a large pit that once held a massive post with a diameter of 0.5m and extending for 1.4m into the ground, 26m from the villa enclosure. A second substantial, but smaller posthole probably also held a large post. There were also a number of 'ancillary' postholes, possibly relating to some form of screen or other marker delimiting the area around the posts. The main post was erected between c. AD 50 and 70 and it is possible that the feature stood until the 3rd century. (1)
