Watching brief undertaken by Canterbury Archaeological Trust between 2004-2005 during groundworks. A succession of buildings were found spanning the medieval period, with a suggested industrial usage of the site throughout.

Phase 1 (c.1150-c.1250): 3 timber buildings with clay floors, multiple hearths, and stake holes.
Phase 2 (c.1250-c.1350): 2 timber buildings with clay floors, multiple hearths, and stake holes.
Phase 3 (c.1350-c.1400): 1 timber building with clay floor, one hearth, and one stake hole.
Phase 4 (c.1400-c.1475): 2 timber buildings with clay floors, hearth, beam slots, post holes, and a dump deposit containing crushed mortar, broken roof slates, and a floor tile fragment.
Phase 5 (c.1475-c.1550): 1 timber buildiing with clay floor, and a fragments of peg tiles and roof slates.
Phase 6 (c.1550-c.1650): 1 timber building with clay floor, dwarf wall footings, stake holes, and a dump of ragstone lumps, peg tiles, and roof slates.

Three metalled roads were found, in association with phases 1-3, 4-5, and 6 respectively.

Any post-medieval activity was probably removed during the construction of the former garage on the site. (1)
