Full Description
C17 three-bay timber structure with C18 / early C19 oasthouse convertion and C20 additions.
Building survey undertaken by Archaeology South East in 2009. 4 main periods of construction. During the C17 a three-bay, two-storey timber structure was built. During the C18 / early C19 the building was converted to an oasthouse, with the installation of a single, central flue and cowl. In the mid C19 two brick roundels were added to the rear and a lean-to was added to the front. A staircase was added to the original building, and double doors cut into the northern wall. In the early C20 a square, brick kiln was added to the east of the two roundels. Further alterations were made throughout the C20. (1)
