Full Description
Primary floor level found in trial pit 3, at Knole, east of Sevenoaks. This is the floor level which the Orangery was at originally before changes were made to the building. There is an in situ brick wall footing too, and it appears this wall was pulled down to the primary floor level before a new raised floor was constructed. It is possible this occurred in 1823 when substantail alterations were made to the building. (1)
