During a trial excavation to uncover further evidence of the foundations of either Henry VIII's Manor House or the nearby medieval priory, a trench was dug at right angles to the road, between two concrete paths. Unfortunately no foundations were located, although tile and bricks were found, evidence of a drainage ditch (1-5m deep by 2m wide) was also unearthed with pottery ranging from Tudor Green ware to medieval glazed and coarsed wareand Roman wares including Samian.
