Full Description
An existing redundant oasthouse, Leigh Farm, of typical Kent oasthouse structure with two circular brick kilns and conical roofs, joined to a three storey rectangular Stowgate building. In 2009 a building survey was done by Magwitch and Dottridge to assess the structural integrity of an oasthouse. The survey concluded it dates to the mid 19th century, Victorian period. (1)
1st edition OS maps confirm a structure there in 1862-1875, however it only possesses one conical roof. The second conical roof has been added by the 2nd edition of the OS map 1897-1900. The oasthouse is also visible on an OS drawing from 1799.
