Full Description
In 2009 a desk based assessment took place at Preston Hill Country Park. The site of Preston Hill Farm was observed during this assessment. The farmstead upon Preston Hill is thought to be Post-medieval in date, dating from between 1840 and 1867-8. This part of the Darent Valley came under fire significantly during the Second World War and was bombed. The reason for this was that nearby Lullingstone Park was used as a decoy airfield during the Second World War to draw enemy bombers away from Biggin Hill, causing Darent Valley to be heavily bombed during this period. There is further evidence of bomb craters within the Preston Hill Country Park. On the 22nd January 1944 however Preston Farm received a direct hit from an enemy bomb, killing 3 people. That night 1200 incendiary bombs and 3 high explosive bombs fell on Preston Hill. (1)
The building is present on the Ordnance Survey map 1907-1923.
