Full Description

In 2009 a desk based assessment at Preston Hill Coutry Park took place. While the assessment was being undertaken a number of bomb craters were observed. At least three bomb craters were counted and perhaps more potential craters may be found to the north of the site. Two bomb craters were found in the south west of the site, in the field north of Gold Hill. Another was found to the south west of the site of Preston Hill farm, which too was destroyed by a direct hit of a bomb in January 1944. There is also the potential for more bomb craters in the area of The Birches where some were possibly identified during the assessment. (1)
