Full Description
TR 34496995. A denehole was discovered in May 1956 during the initial excavations for Hartsdown Secondary School. It was sunk into the solid chalk, which here lies only about 18" below the ground surface, and comprised a shaft 3' in diameter and some 15' in depth which opened at the bottom into a sub-trefoil chamber. No finds were made in the loose chalk and soil infilling (a,b). The shaft was filled in and is now tarmacadamed over. (1)
