Full Description
In the early 1930's a tractor ploughing on Acol Farm uncovered a circular chamber some 10' in diameter and 10-15' in depth cut out of the solid chalk; it had a domed roof part of which, including the entrance, had collapsed. There were no galleries or sub-chambers so it was probably not a dene-hole, and apart from a little soil and chalk on the floor it was empty. After inspection it was filled in and there is nothing to mark its site but its approximate position at TR 3038 6684 was pointed out by the farmer Mr. C. Willett(a). (1) Additional bibliography. (2)
