Full Description
Firing range at Shornecliffe Redoubt, to the north of Martello Tower 9. Constructed sometime before 1908, the site consisted of (possibly) three firing ranges within an old quarry. The site probably went out of use in the late 1950s / early 1960s.
A survey carried out by Wessex Archaeology in 2009 concluded that very little of the firing ranges remained. None of the structures recorded were positively identified with the firing range, while erosion of the quarry, dumping, and the growth of woodland had obscured much of the site. (1)
