Full Description

A possible enclosed settlement to the east of Tilmanstone, visible as a series of cropmarks on the 2007 Google Earth image. The site consists of a ditch enclosing an irregular, roughly triangular area, roughly 150m N-S x 75m E-W. The 2007 Google Earth image suggests this encloses a spit of higher land between two palaeochannels. Internal features are present, though not very clear. A double-ditched circular feature, with an outer diameter of c.12m, exisits at TR 31497 51084. A series of rectilinear features exist within the rest of the enclosure, especially in the southern half of the site. A possible ring ditch or pit feature, c.15m in diameter, exists at TR 31498 51175. Other irregular splodges exist at TR 31484 51165 and TR 31458 51188, though may be natural in origin. A linear crossing the north of the site is most probably a later boundary ditch.
