Monument record TR 36 NW 34 - Site of barrow, near Cliffs End, Minster parish

Summary

The site of a barrow was located approximately 1km to the north of Cliffs End at the east end of the Manton Airport runway. A ring ditch was examined at this site in March 1944 after it had been largely destroyed. This ditch was found to be v-shaped and c.1m deep enclosing an area c.21m in diameter. Within this was found a probable early Bronze Age burial and a secondary burial presumably of a child. No grave goods were recovered from these features meaning that a precise dating is uncertain.
