Full Description
In 1992 a Phase 2 evaluation was carried out at Tyler Hill in advance of a new reservoir. A small assemblage of Post-Medieval pottery was found in Trench PT9 including abraded Tyler Hill sandy ware dating between 1550-1650. Significantly more pottery was found in Trench PT10 - approximately 270 sherds. 18 rim sherds were present, some datable to 1250-1300 and others 14th century in date. There were also earlier grit and shell-filled sandy wares datable to 1150-1200 and some Tyler Hill sandy ware rims from 1150/75-1220. The latest pottery was from between 1375-1400. (1,2)
