Summary
During the Second World War a roadblock consisting of steel vertical bars was constructed across the A26 at the junction of Tonbridge Road and Queen's Road. The roadblock blocked access into Maidstone from the west and protected the town from a German attack following a successful crossing of the Medway to the west.

Full Description
During the Second Wiorld War a roadblock consisting of steel vertical bars was constructed across the A26 at the junction of Tonbridge Road and Queen's Road. The roadblock blocked access into Maidstone from the west and protected the town from a German attack following a successful crossing of the Medway to the west. (1-2)
