Full Description

In 1993 an evaluation on the A253 was undertaken by Trust for Thanet Archaeology. During the evaluation two inhumations were discovered in a single grave cut. The first was that of a small adult in a crouched position, head south, facing east. In front of the face was a fragmented beaker, possibly a bell beaker, point-tooth comb decoration, horizontal bands and chevrons. Towards the northern end of the grave was a stack of inarticulated skeletal material representing a second burial of one other individual. No encircling barrow ditch was found therefore it is more likely a 'flat' beaker burial. (1)
