Full Description

In 1994 a watching brief was done on the pipeline for the Herne Bay Water Treatment. On Site 2 a Medeival well was discovered. It was dug in the 12th century and is east to the prehistoric activity which is present on the site. (1)

In 1995 a report assessing the archaeology of the Herne Bay Waste Water Treatment plan was compiled. A 12th century well is prsent and the remains of a wooden bucket were found within the well. It is thought there may be a nearby Medieval settlement, but as of yet the well is an isolated feature. With the exception of the well the site seems to have been uninhabited between 350 BC and the early 20th century.(2)
