Full Description
In 1994 Oxford Archaeological Unit conducted fieldwalking over the route of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Overall 109 flakes, 3 core fragments and 794 burnt unworked flints were found whilst fieldwalking as well as two retouched forms, possibly an end or side scaper and a frgment of a knife or scraper. The type of knapping is consistent with Bronze Age flint working, there is little concern and control of the knapping itself leading to this inference. But the retouch forms are also undiagnostic. The possible knife or scraper fragment could be Neolthic or Early Bronze Age. Burnt flint too is common on Bronze Age sites and there is a high density here. (1)
