Full Description

In 2011 Canterbury Archaeological Trust excavated two test pits in St Mildred's churchyard, Nurstead. A deposit sealing a grave (which was not opened) was found to contain a small collection of Roman pottery dating to the mid 2nd to late 3rd century. The sherds came from at least two vessels and indicate the possible presence of a Roman site in the vicinity. (1)
