Full Description
In 1994 Oxford Archaeological Unit conducted fieldwalking over the route of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. 54% (44 out of 81) of the total number of Medieval sherd recovered were from Yonsea Farm. They were mainly oxidised sandy wares, some with yellow glaze, one jug rim with rouletted decoration dated ti the 13th century and several Tyler Hill type sandy ware. It it thought the scatter is insufficently concentrated to be termed significant, despite Yonsea Farm being the site of a moated Medieval Farmstead. The scatter may be a consequence of night soiling or manuring. (1)
