Full Description
In 1997 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an evaluation and found medieval fields. The strips were c.2m wide on average and consisted of a worked soil with crushed chalk and seashells within it. Pottery recovered from the soil and the furrows dividing the strips included shell-tempered ware and Tyler Hill ware, suggesting a 13th century date for the arable farming. (1)
