Full Description
A possible ring ditch, visible as a cropmark on the 2007 Google Earth image, to the north of Cliffs End. 16m in diameter. The ring ditch was later recorded during a geophysical survey of the site. The report for this survey notes 'the two concentric ring-ditches at 5023 confirm the presence of a round
barrow. The inner ditch has an internal diameter of approximately 7 m and is 1.3 m wide. The outer ditch is wider at around 1.7 m and has an internal diameter of 11.5 m. The inner ditch is not complete
with a break in both the east and western part, and the outer ditch is also broken in two places on the western edge of the feature. The magnetic values are relatively consistent across the feature and are consistently between 0 and +2 nT. However, it is generally quite weakly positively magnetic, and it might be that this feature is heavily plough damaged. It is not clear whether the breaks in the curvi-linear ditches were present in antiquity or whether this is a product of modern agricultural practice. (1)
