Full Description

In 1995 an excavation was carried out by Wessex Archaeology along a pipeline between Deal and Ramsgate, at Sandwich Bay. An Anglo Saxon grave was noticed, on an east west alignment. It appeared the grave had been disturbed in antiquity since the long bones of the leg and other small bone fragments were not in situ. Analysis of the bone however may suggest there were two individuals represented and the reason for the disturbance was due to a second insertion into the grave. Struck flint flakes and scraper were also found in the grave. (1)
