Monument record TR 36 NW 76 - Early medieval settlement, Acol
Summary
The remains of an early-medieval settlement were previously discovered in Acol. During the construction of foundation trenches for a house in 1981, a number of sunken floored huts, post holes and midden pits were discovered. Amongst the small finds at the site were sherds of grass tempered pottery and a scatter of Romano-British pot sherds and tegulae. Due to the large quantities of these materials they were seen as evidence for a nearby villa site.
