Full Description
In 1955, during building works for the school at Perry Court, Faversham, builders encountered a stone-lined well capped by a slab of stone. The stone lining went down to a depth of four feet, beyond which the well was chalk cut. It was thought to be of Roman date (based upon proximity to the Roman road and the then recent discovery of Roman pottery nearby). Excavation at the base established it to be 60 feet deep but the only find was a sherd of Jacobean pottery. (1)
