Full Description

An excavation was undertaken in 2001 by Canterbury Archaeological Trust after evaluation trenching at Hope Cottage, on Cow Lane, Wincheap, Canterbury. The excavated area was approximately L shaped and had maximum dimensions of 18 metres. Four unpatinated struck flints were recovered, all flints appear to be waste flakes, although one blade like flake has edge damage which might be the product of utilisation. Casual prehistoric activity in the area seems to be implied, although the material cannot be closely dated. All found in medieval contexts. (1)
