Full Description
Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1)
A ring ditch with a diameter of 20m seen in fields near Shottendane Farm visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs: CUCAP BFY15 07-JUL-1971 and mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. This is likely to be the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. A second smaller, incomplete ring ditch lies immediately to the south-east and the grave cuts of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery can be seen as cropmarks cutting into both ring ditches. The cemetery and second ring ditch are recorded separately. (2)
