Full Description

In 2012 Compass Archaeology carried out an evaluation and a watching brief on land to the north of St Lawrence Church, Edenbridge. A shallow linear feature, a gully or ditch, was found, containing 12th-13th century pottery and iron slag. South of this a second feature was observed, a larger, deeper feature, that produced 12th-13th century pottery but also post medieval ceramic building material. The slag suggests substantial metalworking activity in the area. (1)
