Full Description
In 2010 Kent Archaeological Projects monitored the topsoil stripping along the route of a new water pipeline. A large quarry was found with a flint cobbled trackway leading into it. This dated from the mid Roman period and was probable a chalk and/or flint quarry, possibly associated with the Thurnham Villa site to the west. The trackway had a ditch and bank on either side, material sealed below this dated from AD 120-280. The quarry was backfilled in the medieval period - see TQ 85 NW 264. (1)
