Full Description

In 2010 Wessex Archaeology undertook a programme of works in connection with a new lagoon being constructed near Stoke Road, Hoo St Werburgh. Only modern features were located but a small collection of 13 sherds of prehistoric pottery and 63 worked flints were found in later features and topsoil. The sherds are flint-tempered, apart from on grog-tempered sherd, and of broadly late prehistoric date. The flints included core and flakes, there were only two pieces with retouching and only a single end scraper. These are likely to date from the Late Neolithic or earlier Bronze Age, with some possibly from earlier in the Neolithic period. (1)
