In 2004 the Trust for Thanet Archaeology carried out an excavation at Hamilton Lodge in Broadstairs ahead of the redevlopment of the site. Three large pits were found dating to the late medieval period. Layers of cobbles were found within the features. Pottery from within the fills of the pits included 68 sherds of late Medieval pottery. Thesxe included a strap handle fragment from a jug in sandy grey Wealden Fabric (AD1475-1525), seven sherds from several Late Medieval Canterbury cooking pot in sandy Tyler Hill fabric, four fragments from a large convex sided dish, and fragemnts from a cooking pot with a lid and pipkin.
