Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1)

A group of four possible medieval settlement enclosures flanking the Minster Road, Westgate on Sea. Identified from HEA 29749/31 29-JUN-2015, HEA 29749/37 29-JUN-2015 and Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007. These were mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. They are all ditch-defined, the two southern enclosures lie on opposite sides of the road and have traces of internal depression or hollows, possibly the location of buildings which are visible as slight earthworks on LIDAR Environment Agency DTM 07-DEC-2017. These areas may be the features referred to in TR 36 NW 1084.(2-5)
