Full Description
In 2004 the Trust for Thanet Archaeology carried out an evaluation and excavation at Grove Farm ahead of the redevlopment of the area for housing. A large medieval quarry was found. This feature runs north-east, south-west across the exposed area and was on average 6m wide by 1.5m deep. The extent of the feature was difficult to determine as it continued under a building and into an area which had been disturbed by recent activity. Two segments were cut through the feature, demonstrating a variable profile and sequence if fills. the fills contained pottery dating to between 1350 and 1500 AD. . (1-2)
