Full Description
In 2004 Canterbury Archaeological Trust carried out an evaluation and topsoil strip of land off Tothill Street in Minster Thanet. A rectangular structure overlying the Bronze Age barrow was identified at the western limits of the site. been tentatively interpreted as forming part of the World War II air defense installed to protect Manston Airport (this corresponds with a large anomaly seen on a magnetometer survey). A rectangular structure is visible in the centre of the mound on aerial photos of 1946.
