Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. (1)

Cropmarks of a complex of rectilinear enclosures, possibly the site of a Iron Age/ Roman or medieval settlement visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs: CUCAP BFY26 07-JUL-1971 and CUCAP BIW32 20-JUN-1972. The site appears as a large sub-rectangular ditched enclosure (58m x 70m, tapering to the NE) with at least one sub-division. Further fragments of ditch and possible compacted areas are visible to the NW of the main enclosure. A large sub-circular enclosure with cropmark traces of an internal mound is located adjacent to the NE side of the main enclosure, possibly. associated with the enclosures or perhaps the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. These fetures have been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. (2-3)
