Site identified during transcription of features recorded on air photographs. identified in fields near Acol during the recording of features identified from aerial photographs. These photos were taken for the Royal Commission on the Historic Monuments of England as part of a project to identify and classify cropmarks across Kent. The precise nature of this enclosure is uncertain. (1)

An extensive possibly Iron Age/Roman enclosure complex visible as cropmarks was identified from aerial photographs -Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007, Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 14-APR-2015 and HEA 29750/13 29-JUN-2015. Since the first aerial survey (1 above) new aerial photographs have revealed further extensive details to the site extending SE across the field - revealing the fragmented remains of three rectilinear enclosures with internal features, sub-divisions and pits. Later pits can be seen as cropmarks around and within the sites. These features have been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. (2-4)
